2024: A Historic Year for Swiss Side Athletes Laura Philipp and Patrick Lange, Ironman World Champions
This year, 2024, took an extraordinary turn as two Swiss Side athletes, Laura Philipp and Patrick Lange, claimed the Ironman World Champion titles in Nice, France, and Kona, Hawaii.
Swiss Side has been thrilled to support Laura and Patrick with aerodynamic testing in the wind tunnel over the past few years. Together, we've fine-tuned their aerodynamic positions on the bike, tested their setups and gear, and optimized additional equipment like helmets, bottle holders, and cockpits to maximize their performance.
Beyond their aerodynamic setups, both champions ride with Swiss Side wheels, designed to offer optimal performance for training and racing. For the hilly yet fast terrain of the French Alps, Laura rode with the HADRON² Ultimate Rear Disc and HADRON² Ultimate 800 front wheel, a setup perfectly suited for the Nice course.
Patrick, due to Kona’s race restrictions, opted for the HADRON² Ultimate 800 wheels for both the front and rear, a configuration ideal for handling Kona's notorious winds. This decision proved vital, as Patrick set a new course record with a finishing time of 7:35:53—a remarkable achievement on a perfectly configured bike.
Swiss Side congratulates both Laura and Patrick on their exceptional performances and looks forward to supporting their continued success in the coming years.
